About the Print Process:
When asked to design a collateral piece, the designer
begins by researching the client's company, services and
interests to gather ideas. This information goes into the preliminary
sketches or thumbnails. From there 3 - 5 designs are created to
show the client.
In the selection process the client chooses one or two
layouts/ or combines several layouts that will be revised to one
When the final artwork is approved a mechanical
is created using Illustrator, Photoshop and/or InDesign software.
The files go to a pre press house where
film and proofs are made. After the client signs
off on the proof, the job is scheduled for printing. The
client and designer go to a press check to approve the
job by signing off on the final sheet. The job is then printed and
delivered. The knowledge and expertise of a good pre press shop
and printer makes the difference between a good collateral piece
and a great one.
